Welcome to 2008

In the last days of 2007, I was looking forward to 2008. As things were difficult at the time for me personally, I kept chanting in my mind, 2008 is going to be Great!

So here we are and I am excited to be in the new year. The number 8 has always been one of my favorite numbers. The number itself looks like the symbol of infinity. In the Tarot, the 8th card is Strength, the ruling sign Leo, which is of the element of fire. It is a card of Courage & Energy. The important message is NOT TO GIVE UP. To have the courage to keep at it until you succeed and to have the FAITH and OPTIMISM that you will succeed. What a great theme for the year, don't you think?

That being said, this will be a year of major transformation for me both in business and in my personal life. Lately, COURAGE has been my personal theme. Courage to continue to move forward, even when it is difficult. Courage to do what is right, not what is easy. Dictionary.com defines Courage as the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery. This is easier said than done, as it requires one to have FAITH and BELIEVE that everything will work out the way it is supposed to.

So what will 2008 bring? First, I am excited about my new life/business journey as I am actively taking steps to realize my dream of opening a Healing, Learning & Spiritual Centre. It will be located in northwestern, RI at a location that is easily accessible and yet completely surrounded by nature. It truly is a magickal place that you immediately feel as though you are being hugged, healed and filled with love. My partner(s) and I are in the beginning stages of preparing to launch this wonderful Centre. Stay tuned for more information coming soon!

What else? Hmmm....well I am still working on making my list of goals & aspirations for the year - something I think is very important. I like to have a road map of where I am headed. I also find it a useful tool to realize and recognize how far I have come. Just today, I pulled out one of my older journals. In it, I found a list of my goals for that year, which upon reading them, I realized I had completed them! This felt great and reassured me that whatever I set my mind to I can accomplish! By the way that goes for you too, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!!!

I will today end with a quote on Courage....

"I believe that courage is all too often mistakenly seen as the absence of fear. If you descend by rope from a cliff and are not fearful to some degree, you are either crazy or unaware. Courage is seeing your fear, in a realistic perspective, defining it, considering alternatives, and choosing to function in spite of risks" - Leonard Zunin

Until next time -- Love to Live, Live to Love!

December????

Time does not stand still for anyone or anything, but why does it feel like it moves faster as we get older? Questions like this come to mind, more so recently after celebrating my birthday.

It feels like November just started and BAM, BLINK here is DECEMBER. Of course this is a busy time of year, for EVERYONE! There is always so much to do, so much to squeeze in, so much to prepare for, just thinking about it is enough to make you tired.

Each year I plan to be more prepared, not so rushed as I would like to live more in the moment, not thinking about what's happened or what must be done. Easier said then done -- don't you think? However, NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

Enough rambling...so what's going on around here? Let's see, Saturday night I did an in-home reading party, which was very enjoyable. Most of the readings were for teenagers, which was awesome. I realized during the readings, that if I had someone I could talk to without fear of judgement and for guidance when I was their age, I might have found my path faster. The teen years are challenging -- so much happens in just a short time, trying to find your own identity, trying to understand the changes in your body, and most often it is when one's awareness is heightened. This can be scary, especially when you don't have someone you can talk to about things you might see, feel, hear, or just know. When I was a teen, I would have premonitions, visions and just know things all the time. I would tell my parents but as things happened, it freaked them out, so I was told I should not discuss these things. As a result I was scared and alone, with abilities that I did not understand. I remember how it felt, as such, I find myself connecting with teens, trying to help them to understand that their abilities are not something to fear.

Moving on...we've added some great new products for the holiday season. Some new athames - very affordable, a new dream catcher that is quite attractive, and last but not least, Karma Bead Bracelets.

I have two personal favorites -- the first being the Isis Athame, which is very unique! I was gifted one when I turned 28 -- it was a wonderful confirmation that the person who gave it to me, accepted me and my path. My second favorite is the Karma Beads. These so rock! In June, a few of my soul sisters and I, connected for a weekend get-a-way. While shopping in my favorite quaint, New England town (Wickford, RI), we were in a metaphysical shop (my favorite type of store, hmmm I'm not biased really) when two of us found the bracelets at the same time. We all loved them, so we each bought one to remember our time together. I still wear mine everyday - it has become my lucky bracelet. Recently, I found another store with them but these had gemstones in them! I was so excited that I bought one then immediately contacted the manufacturer to add them to our line. The best part is that they are so reasonable in price, you can buy more than one without breaking the bank. Of course, after sending out the Yule newsletter, some of you realized this, so we have sold out of a few of the varieties, but I am restocking today!

Before I forget, I am working on the schedule for classes in January - March -- lot's of Reiki classes and new classes that I have been working on such as: Fundamentals of Ritual & Magick, Herbal Potion Making, Group Meditation, and The Law of Attraction. We are also working on being able to offer workshops online, since so many of you have requested this! Dave is doing the research now to find out the best way to do this. We will keep you updated!

In closing, remember to take time to breathe during this crazy time of year! When you are feeling stressed, stop and breathe deeply -- it helps to center and ground yourself.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful & joyous Holiday Season!

On Saturday, October 6, 2007, The Wiccan Glade, hosted Autumn Fest on the grounds of our property. It was a beautiful, sunny, warm day!

New England weather can be rather unpredictable. At this time of year, one would expect a crisp autumn day. We instead had a beautiful, Indian Summer day, with temperatures reaching close to 87 degrees!

Our wonderful staff, Kelly, Sheryl & Mandy were happy to assist you! Dave took photos, while I did readings & connected with customers.

We offered yummy cookies and Witches Brew (Hot Mulled Cider), after making it, we decided to let it cool, given the weather.

Our friend, Sage Crystal Singer was back with her hand mined crystals from Arkansas. Along with our newest friend, Cynthia, who makes beautiful cloaks and accessories.

We added to our reading selections, as my friend, Louise Manning of Amethyst Moon Wellness Collobrative did Tarot readings all day while I did Psychic Intuitive Readings on the half hour. We also offered Reiki Healings by Sheryl Baton (my soul sister) throughout the day.

One of the highlights of the day, was a visit from our friends at The Witches' Almanac. The Witches' Almanac is a yearly publication that is jam packed with helpful & useful information for the coming year. The Owners, Productions Consultant and Art Director stopped by to pay us a visit. We were so excited to finally meet them in person. They presented us with a copy of the newest edition, hot off the press! Look for them soon on the site, a definite must have!

It was a great day - we were excited to meet many of you! Thank you for stopping by!

Be sure to check out the pictures from the event!

20th Annual New England Women's Herbal Conference

On Friday August 24- Sunday August 26th, I attended the 20th Annual New England Women's Herbal Conference with my dear friend Colleen. I had wanted to attend this conference for many years; I am so happy that I finally did!

The conference was organized by Rosemary Gladstar (along with many helpers). It was held at the delightful Sergeant Camp in Peterborough, NH.

Colleen and I arrived around 10:15 on Friday. After checking in, we found our cabin, room, unloaded and headed off to lunch at Pickity Place Herb Farm in Mason, NH, just 30 minutes away. Pickity Place is one of my favorite herb stops. The herbal luncheon is always fabulous! I was pleased to introduce this delightful and magickal place to Colleen, who had never been before. We had a delightful lunch then we were off to attend the opening circle of the conference.

When we returned, we had missed only a few minutes of the opening. It was amazing to see so many women (500) of all ages in attendance. Immediately you could feel the LOVE of this eclectic gathering. It was wonderful to be a part of it. I especially enjoyed how each person was given a small piece of clay, to make something to go on the Goddess Altar. At one point, Colleen called to me to show me her creation. A few minutes later, I was tapped on the shoulder. When I turned I was happy to see Sharon, one of my first mentors, whom I hadn't seen in over 4 years! It was a tearful embrace (tears of joy) as I was grateful to see her.

After the opening, it was off to classes, the first class I choose was, Addiction Free Naturally with Bridgette Mars. It was a great class with lots of information. I must have filled up 8 pages in my notebook. When the class completed, Colleen and I connected again, to get ready to go to the intensive we choose, which was a Native American Sweat Lodge with Trishuwa. We found our way to the Sweat Lodge, which was located at the end of a path deep in the woods.

There must have about 30-35 women in attendance. We were smudged as we entered the circle. We all sat quietly as we listened to Trishuwa explain the purpose of the lodge, along with sharing personal stories related to the lodge. She was a wonderful teacher; you could immediately feel her connection to the earth and her love. She spoke softly and was very humble. After a thorough explanation, she explained creating a prayer bundle. When she was finished, we set out to make as many prayer bundles as we wanted, and prepared to enter the lodge.

When I was putting my belongings on the ground, under a tarp, a stone jumped (literally) into my hand. It was a beautiful stone that was heart shaped. I thanked the Universe for this present. As we began to enter the lodge one by one, I stayed behind, as I wished to be near the opening. I have struggled with claustrophobia in the past, so I just wanted to be sure I would be close to the door.

It was crowded in the lodge, as we sat in two circles around the center circle that would contain the hot stones. Trishuwa called for her assistant Sarah, to bring 8 stones in. One by one the red hot stones (they were heated in a fire outside the lodge, for many hours) were brought in. Once in, dry herbs were added representing the direction in which we were working in. Fragrant smoke filled the air, and then water was splashed on the stones with a cedar branch. The door was closed which started our first round. When the door closed it was pitch black, it felt like we were in the womb of the earth. Sweat was pouring out of our bodies at a pace I did not think possible. Trishuwa shared stories, and then we prayed and sang until she called for the door to open. This is how each round went, there were four rounds.

When the door opened the second time, I needed to step out. I wanted to go back in but felt very uncomfortable and needed to catch my breath. When I returned, I changed my place, sitting next to a gentle older woman. After I sat, she gently patted my shoulder, saying softly that she acknowledged my struggles but knew I had the strength to continue. Tears immediately filled my eyes, as these were words I so needed to hear. She was my angel and I felt so grateful! Others began to come back in, I moved forward to accommodate the others.

Finally, we reached the final round, and we all came out of the lodge. Many of us (if not all) made our way to the pond to submerge our hot bodies in the cool water. It was exhilarating and liberating all at the same time. It felt like Nirvana! The topper was that if you swam out a bit, you could see the moon that was almost full light up the night sky!

After cooling our hot bodies, we made our way back to our belongings to dress to go back to the “world”. One by one, and two by two, we left the sanctity of the lodge. We made our way to dinner, which is when we all realized how famished we were. I found my “angel” and thanked her! She was so amazing! She embraced me tightly as she exclaimed, “YOU DID IT! WE DID IT!” I felt so blessed! It was a journey and experience I will not forget.

That night, my body continued to purify and purge toxins. It was a challenging night, as sleep was not something I was to have much of. However, I am grateful to have worked through the sludge and rise to a new day.

Saturday morning, I was up early – by 6:30 which is actually my normal time. Surprisingly Colleen was too! (She is not a morning person usually). We made our way to get tea then some breakfast. At breakfast, Sharon and her friend joined us. We shared our experience of the lodge, while they shared their experience of the fire circle the night before. Time moved too quickly as before long we were off to classes.

Colleen and I both chose to take Dealing with Mood Crisis with Kathi Keville. It was jam packed with information on how to help stabilize mood swings and work with specific issues such as depression, anxiety and tension. It was a very helpful class.

After a quick tea break, we attended the class, The Art of Creating Homemade Mead with Desiree Cohen. What a fun time! The instructor, Desiree had a wonderful sense of humor, as did her helpers. She passed out an information packet with all the details on how to make mead, which included some recipes. While she demonstrated the process, her assistants, poured samples into Dixie cups for our tasting. We sampled Dandelion Mead, Blood Orange Mead, Rose Mead, Cranberry Wine, Strawberry Mead, Blueberry Mead, Apple Mead and Pear Mead. At this point all the mead was starting to go to my head – I wasn’t the only one, as many of us, had rosy cheeks, along with giggle fits. Oh what fun!

Next we had lunch, followed by deciding that it was too hot to do anything but swim. So that’s what we did, swim and floated in the pond, for at least an hour or more. I enjoyed this time as I lived in the moment. At one point, I was the water, then I was the bright sun, the breeze that blew by then the dragonflies that flew just over the water, I just relaxed into it and thought of nothing but the moment. My nirvana was lifted when someone called to me.

After instead of running around to a class, I decided I would journal under a nice shady tree. Colleen decided to shop. About an hour later, our delightful roomies, Jennifer and Kathleen set up a blanket for the barter faire. We shared the blanket which was so nice! I traded a few pendants for some crystals along with selling a ring & pendant too! The women were happy to watch my wares, as I strolled to check out others items. I made my way to the vendor area for some shopping. The treasures I choose were Lavender Lemonade Mix (yum), a shell rattle for my son Justin, some psychic tea (I love to try other’s blends), a satin dragonfly pouch for my Goddess cards and some Rescue Remedy Sleep Aide. When I returned, the ladies had packed everything up, as it was HOT and HUMID. We made our way to an early dinner with our new friends.

After a delightful dinner, we decided to swim again. We thought about attending the evening’s activities, but decided that we would have much fun spending time together doing cards, talking and sharing our experiences. We sat at a table in a classroom tent, close enough to the big tent so we could hear the music, songs and entertainment. After a great night of conversation, we retired to our room, Kathleen and I had some Sleep Aid. Before falling asleep, Colleen, Kathleen and I had a case of the giggles; we laughed so hard our sides hurt. What a perfect way to end the day.

Sunday was a whirlwind. It was bittersweet in some ways as we were leaving this wonderful community of women who were so loving, caring and helpful in so many ways! We made plans for the next conference to stay in a Yurt, hugged our new found sisters’ good-bye and headed home.

In gratitude,

GRATITUDE

(Photo by Doug Greene - Thank you Doug!)

On Saturday, August 11th, we hosted our first ever tent sale. It was a magnificent day in all aspects. The event was a great success!

We wish to thank all of you who attended and sent well wishes! We are very grateful to all of you who took time out of your day to stop by and meet us! We were especially excited to meet Sandra & Joe, who came all the way from New York City!!! WOW! Sandra is on our email list, and she & Joe decided to make the trip! We hope you enjoyed your quick visit, to one of our nations smallest states, RI.

My psychic reading schedule booked in short time. Some people booked in advance, which I highly recommend for future events! It was my pleasure to be able to pass messages, and help guide you in your life. It really was an honor to be able to assist you.

After the event, we had an opportunity to catch our breath with a few of our friends (some new too!) that evening. We all watched the sunset from the deck. What a beautiful day!

On Sunday, Dave and I were able to reflect. Something we decided is that once a year is just not enough! As such, we've decided to do this Spring, Summer and Fall. We are planning the next event, which after confirmation of schedules, will be Columbus Day weekend in October. Fall will be upon us, and the field & trees will reflect the beautiful colors. We will be sure to post more information as it is confirmed.

Again, THANK YOU!!! TO ALL OF YOU!!!
