As things were difficult at the time for me personally, I kept chanting in my mind, 2008 is going to be Great!

So here we are and I am excited to be in the new year. The number 8 has always been one of my favorite numbers. The number itself looks like the symbol of infinity. In the Tarot, the 8th card is Strength, the ruling sign Leo, which is of the element of fire. It is a card of Courage & Energy. The important message is NOT TO GIVE UP. To have the courage to keep at it until you succeed and to have the FAITH and OPTIMISM that you will succeed. What a great theme for the year, don't you think?

That being said, this will be a year of major transformation for me both in business and in my personal life. Lately, COURAGE has been my personal theme. Courage to continue to move forward, even when it is difficult. Courage to do what is right, not what is easy. Dictionary.com defines Courage as the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery. This is easier said than done, as it requires one to have FAITH and BELIEVE that everything will work out the way it is supposed to.

So what will 2008 bring? First, I am excited about my new life/business journey as I am actively taking steps to realize my dream of opening a Healing, Learning & Spiritual Centre. It will be located in northwestern, RI at a location that is easily accessible and yet completely surrounded by nature. It truly is a magickal place that you immediately feel as though you are being hugged, healed and filled with love. My partner(s) and I are in the beginning stages of preparing to launch this wonderful Centre. Stay tuned for more information coming soon!

What else? Hmmm....well I am still working on making my list of goals & aspirations for the year - something I think is very important. I like to have a road map of where I am headed. I also find it a useful tool to realize and recognize how far I have come. Just today, I pulled out one of my older journals. In it, I found a list of my goals for that year, which upon reading them, I realized I had completed them! This felt great and reassured me that whatever I set my mind to I can accomplish! By the way that goes for you too, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!!!

I will today end with a quote on Courage....

"I believe that courage is all too often mistakenly seen as the absence of fear. If you descend by rope from a cliff and are not fearful to some degree, you are either crazy or unaware. Courage is seeing your fear, in a realistic perspective, defining it, considering alternatives, and choosing to function in spite of risks" - Leonard Zunin

Until next time -- Love to Live, Live to Love!

Brightest Blessings,

Sherry A. Questions like this come to mind, more so recently after celebrating my birthday.

It feels like November just started and BAM, BLINK here is DECEMBER. Of course this is a busy time of year, for EVERYONE! There is always so much to do, so much to squeeze in, so much to prepare for, just thinking about it is enough to make you tired.

Each year I plan to be more prepared, not so rushed as I would like to live more in the moment, not thinking about what's happened or what must be done. Easier said then done -- don't you think? However, NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

Enough rambling...so what's going on around here? Let's see, Saturday night I did an in-home reading party, which was very enjoyable. Most of the readings were for teenagers, which was awesome. I realized during the readings, that if I had someone I could talk to without fear of judgement and for guidance when I was their age, I might have found my path faster. The teen years are challenging -- so much happens in just a short time, trying to find your own identity, trying to understand the changes in your body, and most often it is when one's awareness is heightened. This can be scary, especially when you don't have someone you can talk to about things you might see, feel, hear, or just know. When I was a teen, I would have premonitions, visions and just know things all the time. I would tell my parents but as things happened, it freaked them out, so I was told I should not discuss these things. As a result I was scared and alone, with abilities that I did not understand. I remember how it felt, as such, I find myself connecting with teens, trying to help them to understand that their abilities are not something to fear.

Moving on...we've added some great new products for the holiday season. Some new athames - very affordable, a new dream catcher that is quite attractive, and last but not least, Karma Bead Bracelets.

I have two personal favorites -- the first being the Isis Athame, which is very unique! I was gifted one when I turned 28 -- it was a wonderful confirmation that the person who gave it to me, accepted me and my path. My second favorite is the Karma Beads. These so rock! In June, a few of my soul sisters and I, connected for a weekend get-a-way. While shopping in my favorite quaint, New England town (Wickford, RI), we were in a metaphysical shop (my favorite type of store, hmmm I'm not biased really) when two of us found the bracelets at the same time. We all loved them, so we each bought one to remember our time together. I still wear mine everyday - it has become my lucky bracelet. Recently, I found another store with them but these had gemstones in them! I was so excited that I bought one then immediately contacted the manufacturer to add them to our line. The best part is that they are so reasonable in price, you can buy more than one without breaking the bank. Of course, after sending out the Yule newsletter, some of you realized this, so we have sold out of a few of the varieties, but I am restocking today!

Before I forget, I am working on the schedule for classes in January - March -- lot's of Reiki classes and new classes that I have been working on such as: Fundamentals of Ritual & Magick, Herbal Potion Making, Group Meditation, and The Law of Attraction. We are also working on being able to offer workshops online, since so many of you have requested this! Dave is doing the research now to find out the best way to do this. We will keep you updated!

In closing, remember to take time to breathe during this crazy time of year! When you are feeling stressed, stop and breathe deeply -- it helps to center and ground yourself.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful & joyous Holiday Season!

Brightest Blessings,

Silver Raven Moon *)0(*
aka
Sherry A. It was a beautiful, sunny, warm day!

New England weather can be rather unpredictable. At this time of year, one would expect a crisp autumn day. We instead had a beautiful, Indian Summer day, with temperatures reaching close to 87 degrees!

Our wonderful staff, Kelly, Sheryl & Mandy were happy to assist you! Dave took photos, while I did readings & connected with customers.

We offered yummy cookies and Witches Brew (Hot Mulled Cider), after making it, we decided to let it cool, given the weather.

Our friend, Sage Crystal Singer was back with her hand mined crystals from Arkansas. Along with our newest friend, Cynthia, who makes beautiful cloaks and accessories.

We added to our reading selections, as my friend, Louise Manning of Amethyst Moon Wellness Collobrative did Tarot readings all day while I did Psychic Intuitive Readings on the half hour. We also offered Reiki Healings by Sheryl Baton (my soul sister) throughout the day.

One of the highlights of the day, was a visit from our friends at The Witches' Almanac. The Witches' Almanac is a yearly publication that is jam packed with helpful & useful information for the coming year. The Owners, Productions Consultant and Art Director stopped by to pay us a visit. We were so excited to finally meet them in person. They presented us with a copy of the newest edition, hot off the press! Look for them soon on the site, a definite must have!

It was a great day - we were excited to meet many of you! Thank you for stopping by!

Be sure to check out the pictures from the event!

In light, love & gratitude,

Silver Raven Moon *)0(*
aka
Sherry Kachanis
The Wiccan Glade, Inc.
http://www.wiccanglade.com/
1-877-241-2506 toll free

20th Annual New England Women's Herbal Conference

On Friday August 24- Sunday August 26th, I attended the 20th Annual New England Women's Herbal Conference with my dear friend Colleen. I had wanted to attend this conference for many years; I am so happy that I finally did!

The conference was organized by Rosemary Gladstar (along with many helpers). It was held at the delightful Sergeant Camp in Peterborough, NH.

Colleen and I arrived around 10:15 on Friday. After checking in, we found our cabin, room, unloaded and headed off to lunch at Pickity Place Herb Farm in Mason, NH, just 30 minutes away. Pickity Place is one of my favorite herb stops. The herbal luncheon is always fabulous! I was pleased to introduce this delightful and magickal place to Colleen, who had never been before. We had a delightful lunch then we were off to attend the opening circle of the conference.

When we returned, we had missed only a few minutes of the opening. It was amazing to see so many women (500) of all ages in attendance. Immediately you could feel the LOVE of this eclectic gathering. It was wonderful to be a part of it. I especially enjoyed how each person was given a small piece of clay, to make something to go on the Goddess Altar. At one point, Colleen called to me to show me her creation. A few minutes later, I was tapped on the shoulder. When I turned I was happy to see Sharon, one of my first mentors, whom I hadn't seen in over 4 years! It was a tearful embrace (tears of joy) as I was grateful to see her.

After the opening, it was off to classes, the first class I choose was, Addiction Free Naturally with Bridgette Mars. It was a great class with lots of information. I must have filled up 8 pages in my notebook. When the class completed, Colleen and I connected again, to get ready to go to the intensive we choose, which was a Native American Sweat Lodge with Trishuwa. We found our way to the Sweat Lodge, which was located at the end of a path deep in the woods.

There must have about 30-35 women in attendance. We were smudged as we entered the circle. We all sat quietly as we listened to Trishuwa explain the purpose of the lodge, along with sharing personal stories related to the lodge. She was a wonderful teacher; you could immediately feel her connection to the earth and her love. She spoke softly and was very humble. After a thorough explanation, she explained creating a prayer bundle. When she was finished, we set out to make as many prayer bundles as we wanted, and prepared to enter the lodge.

When I was putting my belongings on the ground, under a tarp, a stone jumped (literally) into my hand. It was a beautiful stone that was heart shaped. I thanked the Universe for this present. As we began to enter the lodge one by one, I stayed behind, as I wished to be near the opening. I have struggled with claustrophobia in the past, so I just wanted to be sure I would be close to the door.

It was crowded in the lodge, as we sat in two circles around the center circle that would contain the hot stones. Trishuwa called for her assistant Sarah, to bring 8 stones in. One by one the red hot stones (they were heated in a fire outside the lodge, for many hours) were brought in. Once in, dry herbs were added representing the direction in which we were working in. Fragrant smoke filled the air, and then water was splashed on the stones with a cedar branch. The door was closed which started our first round. When the door closed it was pitch black, it felt like we were in the womb of the earth. Sweat was pouring out of our bodies at a pace I did not think possible. Trishuwa shared stories, and then we prayed and sang until she called for the door to open. This is how each round went, there were four rounds.

When the door opened the second time, I needed to step out. I wanted to go back in but felt very uncomfortable and needed to catch my breath. When I returned, I changed my place, sitting next to a gentle older woman. After I sat, she gently patted my shoulder, saying softly that she acknowledged my struggles but knew I had the strength to continue. Tears immediately filled my eyes, as these were words I so needed to hear. She was my angel and I felt so grateful! Others began to come back in, I moved forward to accommodate the others.

Finally, we reached the final round, and we all came out of the lodge. Many of us (if not all) made our way to the pond to submerge our hot bodies in the cool water. It was exhilarating and liberating all at the same time. It felt like Nirvana! The topper was that if you swam out a bit, you could see the moon that was almost full light up the night sky!

After cooling our hot bodies, we made our way back to our belongings to dress to go back to the “world”. One by one, and two by two, we left the sanctity of the lodge. We made our way to dinner, which is when we all realized how famished we were. I found my “angel” and thanked her! She was so amazing! She embraced me tightly as she exclaimed, “YOU DID IT! WE DID IT!” I felt so blessed! It was a journey and experience I will not forget.

That night, my body continued to purify and purge toxins. It was a challenging night, as sleep was not something I was to have much of. However, I am grateful to have worked through the sludge and rise to a new day.

Saturday morning, I was up early – by 6:30 which is actually my normal time. Surprisingly Colleen was too! (She is not a morning person usually). We made our way to get tea then some breakfast. At breakfast, Sharon and her friend joined us. We shared our experience of the lodge, while they shared their experience of the fire circle the night before. Time moved too quickly as before long we were off to classes.

Colleen and I both chose to take Dealing with Mood Crisis with Kathi Keville. It was jam packed with information on how to help stabilize mood swings and work with specific issues such as depression, anxiety and tension. It was a very helpful class.

After a quick tea break, we attended the class, The Art of Creating Homemade Mead with Desiree Cohen. What a fun time! The instructor, Desiree had a wonderful sense of humor, as did her helpers. She passed out an information packet with all the details on how to make mead, which included some recipes. While she demonstrated the process, her assistants, poured samples into Dixie cups for our tasting. We sampled Dandelion Mead, Blood Orange Mead, Rose Mead, Cranberry Wine, Strawberry Mead, Blueberry Mead, Apple Mead and Pear Mead. At this point all the mead was starting to go to my head – I wasn’t the only one, as many of us, had rosy cheeks, along with giggle fits. Oh what fun!

Next we had lunch, followed by deciding that it was too hot to do anything but swim. So that’s what we did, swim and floated in the pond, for at least an hour or more. I enjoyed this time as I lived in the moment. At one point, I was the water, then I was the bright sun, the breeze that blew by then the dragonflies that flew just over the water, I just relaxed into it and thought of nothing but the moment. My nirvana was lifted when someone called to me.

After instead of running around to a class, I decided I would journal under a nice shady tree. Colleen decided to shop. About an hour later, our delightful roomies, Jennifer and Kathleen set up a blanket for the barter faire. We shared the blanket which was so nice! I traded a few pendants for some crystals along with selling a ring & pendant too! The women were happy to watch my wares, as I strolled to check out others items. I made my way to the vendor area for some shopping. The treasures I choose were Lavender Lemonade Mix (yum), a shell rattle for my son Justin, some psychic tea (I love to try other’s blends), a satin dragonfly pouch for my Goddess cards and some Rescue Remedy Sleep Aide. When I returned, the ladies had packed everything up, as it was HOT and HUMID. We made our way to an early dinner with our new friends.

After a delightful dinner, we decided to swim again. We thought about attending the evening’s activities, but decided that we would have much fun spending time together doing cards, talking and sharing our experiences. We sat at a table in a classroom tent, close enough to the big tent so we could hear the music, songs and entertainment. After a great night of conversation, we retired to our room, Kathleen and I had some Sleep Aid. Before falling asleep, Colleen, Kathleen and I had a case of the giggles; we laughed so hard our sides hurt. What a perfect way to end the day.

Sunday was a whirlwind. It was bittersweet in some ways as we were leaving this wonderful community of women who were so loving, caring and helpful in so many ways! We made plans for the next conference to stay in a Yurt, hugged our new found sisters’ good-bye and headed home.

In gratitude,

Silver Raven Moon *)0(*
aka
Sherry Kachanis
The Wiccan Glade Inc.
http://www.wiccanglade.com/

GRATITUDE

(Photo by Doug Greene - Thank you Doug!)

On Saturday, August 11th, we hosted our first ever tent sale. It was a magnificent day in all aspects. The event was a great success!

We wish to thank all of you who attended and sent well wishes! We are very grateful to all of you who took time out of your day to stop by and meet us! We were especially excited to meet Sandra & Joe, who came all the way from New York City!!! WOW! Sandra is on our email list, and she & Joe decided to make the trip! We hope you enjoyed your quick visit, to one of our nations smallest states, RI.

My psychic reading schedule booked in short time. Some people booked in advance, which I highly recommend for future events! It was my pleasure to be able to pass messages, and help guide you in your life. It really was an honor to be able to assist you.

After the event, we had an opportunity to catch our breath with a few of our friends (some new too!) that evening. We all watched the sunset from the deck. What a beautiful day!

On Sunday, Dave and I were able to reflect. Something we decided is that once a year is just not enough! As such, we've decided to do this Spring, Summer and Fall. We are planning the next event, which after confirmation of schedules, will be Columbus Day weekend in October. It usually takes us a full 3 days to do this (by hand of course). We are estatic that as of Sunday, the entire garden has been planted! Woohoo!

Now starts the task of cultivating to keep up with the weeds. Of course, we have to watch things daily, as we have already had rabbits eat all our broccoli seedlings. We had to get new broccoli plants, which we caged, to keep them rascals out. Since they are not able to eat them, they moved on to the pepper plants. We farm organically, and believe there is plenty for all creatures, however, we did make a mixture of cayenne pepper to put on and around the pepper plants to thwart the bunnies.

I hosted a herbal workshop on Saturday. One thing I've learned is to be flexible, sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. Saturday morning arrived, as did the rain. Thinking quick, I shuffled the scheduled classes, doing the Pendulum Magick class first, then went right into the refreshment part of the herbal workshop, hoping the rain would slow. No one melted as we ventured out under umbrellas, went through the herb garden & other gardens. It was a great day! I really enjoyed interacting and sharing with the workshop participants. We all have so much to learn from each other!

I will be posting pictures of the gardens here soon! Be sure to check them out!

Yesterday, I completed the Midsummer Newsletter. Be sure to check it out, as I have included some recipes from the Herbal Workshop. While your at it, browse our newest product additions. I especially think the handmade wood and bone athame is rather neat! We have a VERY limited supply of these, if it appeals to you, don't wait too long, they might be gone.

Well, tonight is drum night, (I drum/sing in a Native American Drum Circle, Hawk Song Drum) off I run to accomplish a few more tasks before dinner. There's always plenty to do...

Until next time...SMILE!

Brightest Blessings,

Silver Raven Moon *)0(*
aka
Sherry-Ann Kachanis
The Wiccan Glade, Inc.
http://www.wiccanglade.com/

Grow, Grow, Grow

Ever have those days, weeks or months, that seem to be gone before you know it? It feels like it happens to me all the time.

Rewinding a bit...on May 19, 20 & 21st, I participated in the Melchizedek Method 1 & 2, as a part of my own on going, continuous spiritual growth. This was facilitated by an amazing woman, from Malaysia, who travels the globe teaching & healing others, fulfilling her soul purpose.

There were obstacles to me taking the class, but one by one they were removed. In this process, I realized it was my destiny to be a part of this. This was confirmed during and after the class, with many signs.

This experience was amazing! We did many meditations to activate our DNA & RNA with coding that already exists within. At the end of the first day, I was blown away. This repeated itself on day 2, and on day 3. It was a quantum leap from anything I had done or experienced before. Additionally, my awareness and psychic senses were heightened further than I could have ever imagined. I found myself knowing what the facilitator was going to say, what other people wanted, etc. before it was ever spoken. I have always felt "connected" but this far surpassed anything I had experienced. This continues, as I am still integrating all the processes from that weekend.

If you are interested in learning more, visit...www.melchizedekmethod.com. There is much information on how it came to be, what it is, etc. I am sharing as I know it has changed my life, maybe your ready to allow your soul to be in the drivers seat too!

Blink, and BAM it's June! My schedule is jammed packed with classes, Magickal Herb Garden Tour, Pendulum Magick; and so much to do outdoors. Weed the gardens, finish a new garden, plant the vegetable garden, start the medicine wheel. For some it may sound like work, but to me, it really is sweet. There is nothing like getting your hands in mother earth, Dave and I find it so soothing & decompressing after a long day or week.

I am working on the June newsletter for the upcoming Sabbat, Midsummer, to be sent later this week. In it will be great articles, some great recipes, and rituals too. Also, be sure to check out our newest additions to our line, new books, a really unique athame and some new pendants.

Until next time, remember, your thoughts are energy! Be impeccable with your thoughts!

Brightest Blessings,

Silver Raven Moon *)0(*
AKA
Sherry-Ann Kachanis
The Wiccan Glade, Inc.
http://www.wiccanglade.com/

Is it Spring Yet?

According to the 2007 Witches Calendar, today is the New Moon, along with being in void-of-course most of the day. This is true, as I went to save the blog to post, it somehow disappeared. So here I am, starting over. Seems like this story rings true for most of us. We fall down, pick ourselves up, brush ourselves off and continue moving forward. Time does not wait, nor do the seasons, we are always in a constant state of change, if we realize or recognize it or not.

Breathe deeply with me....ahhh, doesn't that feel good? Breathing deeply in times of stress or anxiety is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Something that I find helps me, is when I notice or realize I am not breathing correctly, I stop, breathe in for a count of 7, hold for a count of 7 and exhale for a count of 7. Do this a few times, 7 would be optimum, and you will feel inner peace.

It is another rainy day here in RI. It has rained, rather poured for the past 2 days. Today the rain seems to come and go, but it is raining none the less. The forecast says it will rain, most if not all of the week. I am not one to put much stake on forecasts, as I find at least 75% of the time they are wrong. The best weather indicator is to go outside to see for yourself.

It has been a flurry of activity here at the Wiccan Glade. Sherry has taken the Wiccan Glade on the road, vending at events nearby. On March 31st, we were a vendor at The Women's Center for Wellness 10th Annual Women's Day in Milford, MA. It was a beautiful day, we met some wonderful people, and had the pleasure to share space with some very talented artisans.

Later this month, Sherry will again, bring the Wiccan Glade to physical manifestation, at Aspire Magazines event, Love, Light & Laughter, An Enchanted Day for Women. This special event will be held on Sunday, April 29th from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the Taunton Holiday Inn, in Taunton, MA. For more information about this event, visit:
http://www.lovelightlaughter.net/index.html.
If you happen to live in the New England area, please, stop in, we would love to meet you!

Additionally, Sherry is now scheduling appointments for Reiki/Healing Sessions and Intuitive/Clairvoyant/Medium Readings out of the Amethyst Moon Wellness Collaborative in Plainville, MA, not far from the RI border. She has been blessed to have the opportunity to work out of this wonderful space. She is now booking appointments on Thursdays. For more information, or your schedule your healing session, contact Sherry toll free at 1-877-241-2506. As always, she is available for long distance healing sessions or phone readings if you are not in the immediate area.

With Spring upon us...or at least coming soon, it brings us to our season of workshops & classes. We have already scheduled dates for our Magickal Herb Garden Tour with Herbal Refreshments, find a date that works for you. http://www.wiccanglade.com/hegatowihere.html Additionally, Discover the Magick of Gemstones, Pendulum Magick and Reiki Level 1 & 2 Training can be scheduled. Feel free to contact Sherry to schedule a date, 1-877-241-2506.

Enjoy the season, plant those seeds, dreams and goals! With some nurturing they will grow and manifest! May you and yours enjoy this wonderful time of year.

Brightest Blessings,

Silver Raven Moon *)0(*
(Sherry-Ann Kachanis)
The Wiccan Glade, Inc.
http://www.wiccanglade.com/

World Issue of Global Warming

Last night after wrapping up for the day, our family sat down to watch the newest movie we received from Netflix. The movie, which I had selected was "An Inconvenient Truth" a documentary with former Vice-President Al Gore.

Many friends recommend I read this book, but since I am often short on time, I thought I could gain an understanding through the documentary style movie. I was right! After the first 5 minutes, everyone was sitting on the couch quietly, absorbing the information and facts that he was presenting. It was very alarming and scary what this world-wide issue is doing to our Mother-Earth. Even more, we were disappointed & appalled at our Country's response to this issue, or rather non-response to this major issue!

The presentation in the movie was easy to follow & understand, as it was broken down for all to understand, not just scientists. We were amazed at how much Global Warming has affected our environment & the world, but even more so how this progresses at an alarming speed. What was also interesting to note, was that solutions to this problem do exist! Most countries are doing all they can not to contribute further, well all countries, except the USA! In fact, we are the GREATEST contributor to this world-wide problem! Sad, but true. More so, that our government refuses to acknowledge this issue, by denying it exists. They chalk it up to fiction, a hoax, but the facts stand, and the truth is revealed!

The movie was interesting, as it documented quite clearly the affects this is having on the world. How it is changing our eco-system, how plants & animals are being affected by it along with the weather patterns. This does not only affect humans, it affects all LIFE!

We encourage you to watch this movie (it's about 1 1/2 hours) or read the book. We expect that you too will feel the deep sense of urgency that we feel! All of us, with or without the assistance of the Democracy of our Government, should do our part, to reduce our contribution to this major problem plaguing our Earth, our Mother! If we all take steps, even little ones, together they will make a difference!

To learn more visit the following links: http://www.stopglobalwarming.org/sgw_learnmore.asp; http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/113898007.

Thank you!

Brightest Blessings,

Silver Raven Moon *)0(*
(Sherry Kachanis)
The Wiccan Glade, Inc.
www.wiccangladec.om

Almost Spring....

We've been busy as usual here at the Wiccan Glade. After our physical inventory at the end of the year, we decided that some items need to find new homes. As such, many items that we are discontinuing are on now our Clearance page at greatly reduced prices! Be sure to check them out before they are gone.

Over the holidays, we were gifted with an amazing spell incense, Blessed Herbal Spell Incense. In fact, we liked it so much, we just added it to our line! We've also just added some wonderful, new, and unique items, that can't be found just anywhere. Daughters of Isis, our wonderful blenders of oils, medicines and misters, just added hand-made soaps, the perfect boost to your Healing work or magickal intentions. (All smell fabulous! Dave's favorite is mugwort, while Sherry loves them all!) Daughters of Isis also created these wonderfully, adorable, gift boxes that include, 3 oils, a mister and medicine, all packaged in a wooden gift box. Everyone we showed the sample too, loved it!

On another note, we are also excited to announce we have a new employee, Ariana! Ariana, brings a wonderful, calming and balancing energy to the warehouse & office.

Also, we are in the process of launching our newest extension of The Wiccan Glade. We will be making a big announcement at the end of the month -- look for it!

Sherry has been drawn to do more healing work, in addition to readings (psychic, intuitive & mediumship). She has been developing and fine tuning her skills by participating in a mediumship group. The experience has been wonderful! She looks forward to helping you on your journey!

The weather has been unusually mild for the most part here in the North East. Of course we've had some cold, bone chilling weather, but not much snow. That has not deterred Sherry, as she has been diligently going through seed catalogs picking out seeds for the gardens. This year we plan to create a Medicine Wheel Garden to honor our ancestors. Also, we are finishing some landscaping to include a hosta & coleus garden, and new herb garden. One can never have enough herbs!

That's all for now -- remember to take time and just breathe!

Brightest Blessings,

Silver Raven Moon *)0(*
(Sherry-Ann Kachanis)
The Wiccan Glade, Inc.
http://www.wiccanglade.com/

Friday the 13th....

You know it's going to be a good day when the date is Friday the 13th! We welcome days like today...a perfect fall day in New England, the leaves that are still on the trees are still brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow. The weather is still mild and there is magick in the air! Welcome to mid-October, the season of Samhain or Halloween.

This is the time of the year that the veil between the two worlds, physical and spirit becomes very thin. A time for divination, spirit communication and celebrating the Witches New Year. It's a time to reflect over the past year to realize your accomplishments, see how far you've come in the past year.

Here at The Wiccan Glade it feels like time has flown by. It seems like yesterday we were setting our booth up at the CT Renaissance Faire. Unfortunately, we were unable to participate this year, on the positive side we were able to recognize early on that it would be too much for us at this time of year.

When we stop to take time to review the past year, we are able to see how far we have come and at the same time how much farther we'd like to go. We'd like to expand the Wiccan Glade even more! We are currently brainstorming an idea of ours that we'd like to make a reality. It's something new, exciting, and definitely out of the "box". We will keep you informed as we manifest this new project! We know you will LOVE it!

Additionally, we'd like offer Sabbat gatherings, so spiritual and like-minded people can come together to celebrate the changing of the seasons. We have also had many requests for classes on the fundamentals of witchcraft. This is something Sherry has wanted to do for quite some time, but due to time constraints, she hasn't been able to launch this much needed & requested venture. However, it is on her priority list to make it happen.

With all that being said, be sure to reflect on your own, see how far you have come and where you'd like to go in your journey! Here we are now nearing the middle of August, the dog days of Summer. Let me catch my breath.

It has been a whirlwind of travel since June. In June, Silver Raven Moon, took to the friendly skies to visit customers and friends in Michigan. What a learning experience for all! It was the first time Sherry was away from The Wiccan Glade, which left Dave to fill her shoes while she was gone. He of course handled everything with ease. Sherry presented the Discover the Magick of Gemstones and Pendulum Magick workshops while in Michigan. She also did some Reiki healing, magick and Reiki Level 1 attunement while there. She met some amazing people!

Days after returning from Michigan, it was time to pack for our annual family vacation. Like last year, we decided that we needed the healing and rejeuvenation of the ocean. We spent a week by the ocean. This year, our 8 year old son got a new bike for his birthday, so the three of us spent time biking. What a great family activity! Our son did great! He and I one morning, after getting up, hopped on our bikes and biked to the beach a few miles away. We were there while they were raking the sand for the day. It was incredibly amazing and peaceful to be on the beach practically alone. We also explored nearby islands by hopping a ferry, what an adventure! Like most vacations, it didn't seem long enough.

A few days after returning from vacation, Silver Raven Moon took the friendly skies again to visit friends in Germany. What an adventure it was! Germany is a beautiful country and the people that Sherry met were not only wonderful, they were exceptionally kind and generous. The adventure included visiting the Castle Neuschwanstein (Walt Disney inspiration for Cinderella's castle). She walked around the medieval cities of Dinkelsbuhl & Amberg. Additionally, she visited a sacred site with other healers, did healing work, passed a Reiki Level II attunement, spent time in the "country", saw a parade, beer fest, experienced home cooked German cuisine, and of course tried some German beer and wine (Yes, the beer is the best in the world, make mine a dunkel, and the Dry Reisling wine, just fabulous!). It was a wonderful experience!

Now that the traveling is over, we are working hard at preparing The Wiccan Glade for the upcoming season. We will be making some improvements to the website, adding new products and offering more workshops at locations in the New England area.

We hope you and yours are enjoying your holidays and summer! Until next time....

Brightest Blessings,

Silver Raven Moon )0(
(Sherry Kachanis)
The Wiccan Glade, Inc.
www.wiccanglade.com

Spring is Here!!!

Spring has sprung! Spring is one of our favorite times, as we find ourselves outdoors more, breathing the fresh air and soaking in the sunshine. We have been busy the past few weeks preparing our gardens for the upcoming season.

The arrival of Spring, brings spring chores. Time to weed the gardens, trim plants and bushes, raking, etc. Although it may sound like work, it doesn't feel like it. Time seems to stand still when I am working in the yard. I find it immensely healing playing in the soil, spending quality time with Mother Nature. Like most women, I do have gardening gloves...However, more often than not, I will not wear them as I love the connection to the earth with my hands.

Many exciting things on the horizon...Our newest workshop, Herbal Garden Tour with Herbal Refreshments will be scheduled at various times for late May and all throughout June. There may also be times later in the season, such as August, to experience harvesting of many of the herbs. Workshop space is limited to 10, so if you are interested be sure to register early. Details will be released soon, both on the website and via email.

In June, I will be traveling to Montague, MI, to visit my friend Ann (A.E. Rought) (visit her site: http://www.forever-dark.com). While visiting with Ann, we will be working on a book together. Additionally, there may be an opportunity for those of you in the area to attend workshops. I am prepared to present Discover the Magick of Gemstones, Reiki Level 1 Training and Learn to Use a Pendulum. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact me at info@wiccanglade.com.

July starts with a much needed family vacation. Each year we like to get away, usually some place that we are close to nature. This year we will spend a week by the ocean, there is nothing like the ocean air to relax and rejuvenate you all at the same time. Upon returning, I will be preparing for another adventure, as I will be heading to Southern Bavaria, Germany mid July. I will be presenting workshops on Gemstones, Herbs, Learn to Use a Pendulum, Reiki Level I & II Training and possibly others. Anyone is welcome to attend. Space will be limited, details will be finalized soon. I am excited to have this opportunity to travel to help guide others in their spiritual journey. I look forward to exploring the German countryside, and castles with my hosts on my off days. Again, if you or someone you know might be interested in any of these workshops, please contact me at info@wiccanglade.com.

Beltane quickly approaches, which means Midsummer is not far behind. Remember to get outdoors as much as you can. Reconnect with Mother Nature and enjoy the full beauty of each season!

Brightest Blessings,

Silver Raven Moon *)0(*
(Sherry Kachanis)
The Wiccan Glade, Inc.
www.wiccanglade.com

What's New...

There's many new things happening at the Wiccan Glade. We received a much anticipated shipment of jewelry from a new vendor. We are extremely happy and pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pieces, as they are stunning. Most are pendants, but there are a few necklaces. All have gemstones, lots of "flash" in the moonstone, deep color in the amethyst, just overall really, really beautiful.

Last friday, we celebrated Imbolc with a seasonal dinner, with ritual after. After the ritual, the women who participated, were glad to give us some input on the new pieces. They loved them all, and we hope that you do to! It will be a few days before they are up on the site, as adding a new item is a very time consuming process. However, they will be on the site ASAP, as the plan is to feature them in our upcoming special.

Also, new is the offering of classes and workshops. In addition to the Gemstone Workshop that Sherry leads, she will be teaching the following classes: Reiki Training, Herbal Garden Tour with Herbal Refreshments and Foundations of Magick. All coming soon!

Be sure to look for our newest additions to the book section, the new titles include: Cottage Witchery, Practical Guide to Psychic Self-Defense, Uriel and much more. Additionally, we have added 2 new gift baskets, Love and Success. And last, but not least, our newest piece from Dryad Design, called "The Guardian".

We hope you enjoy the new editions.

Well it has been a long day, I will sign off for now.
Stay Positive and Merry Meet Again!

Brightest Blessings,

Silver Raven Moon

Imbolc/Candlemas Newsletter Issues...

I must apologize to all our newsletter recipients for the issues with the newsletter that was sent out yesterday. The customer wanted to know why I hadn't blogged in awhile. Fair enough question, but when I thought about the reason why I haven't gotten around to blogging, it all comes down to time.

The start of the New Year has already come and gone. I personally love the New Year, as I always see it as a NEW beginning. A time to set priorities for the year, to incorporate things we want to do, with what we must do. This in itself can often be challenging, to think and plan ahead for the year, however, as any business owner would tell you, it's absolutely necessary.

So, here are a few of the things we are working on this year at the Wiccan Glade:

1) Offer more workshops, classes, training
2) Continually update, refresh and tweak the website
3) Manifest the Wiccan Glade into the physical plane (Store front)
4) Writing and submitting articles to various pagan/wiccan publications
5) Participate as a vendor in Faires, Pagan Pride, and other events

Now, those are just some of our "business" goals, as we also have, personal, family, and home goals too. Some personal goals I have already started integrating into my life are:

1) Daily meditation (at least a half hour)
2) Exercise (at least a half hour a day)
3) Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day
4) Taking supplements (vitamins etc.)
5) At least one day off a week, but shooting for at least 1 1/2 days (Weekends)

Since I started truly meditating on a daily basis (started 12/28/05), I have noticed that if I am stressed (which seems often these days), the meditation helps me re-focus, and re-adjust my outlook. This in itself is very balancing and peaceful.

Currently, I am getting ready to launch our latest edition of our newsletter, As the Wheel Turns, for the next Sabbat, Imbolc or Candlemas. While working on the newsletter, it came to me to ask YOU, yes, you for some feedback or input on what you would like to see in the newsletter. Do you have any ideas you'd like to share? Recipes? Rituals? If so, please email me at info@wiccanglade.com.

Look for a posting soon on the site (www.wiccanglade.com) for upcoming workshops and classes.

Until next time...Blessed Be!

Brightest Blessings,

Silver Raven Moon
(aka Sherry Kachanis)

The Craziness of the Holiday Season...

Please excuse the lack of journal entries, once Thanksgiving arrives, the days fly as I am challenged to keep up with everything. As such, here is an update to what's going on at The Wiccan Glade...

On November 2nd, I, (Sherry) had foot surgery on my left foot. Recovery is long, but in the end it is worth it. I had surgery on my right foot in July, so this is the home stretch for the hereditary foot issues that have plagued me. The plan is to start the new year pain free! That being said, it has been challenging for me to get downstairs to the warehouse and office to pick, pack and process orders. Not to mention, I am not one to sit still, or with my feet up (as I am required to right now), so after a week or so, I am starting to climb the walls. I look forward to walking normal again.

Late October was the release of our First edition of our Sabbat Newsletter, As The Wheel Turns. I want to thank all of you who sent feedback letting me know what you thought of it. I am excited that you enjoyed it, and look forward to the next issue. Speaking of the next issue, I hope to have it out just before Thanksgiving. Be sure to check out the recipes, I've included some of my own that I make for my family each year. Also, we will have some new products, including the crown I am wearing in the pictures at the CTRF.

I celebrate my birthday the day before Thanksgiving this year. So much to be thankful for! Dave's birthday is next, 2 1/2 weeks later. Yes, both of us are Saggitarians, go figure?

Many updates and projects to complete before the holiday season is full swing. Before the end of the year, I will be posting workshops dates and times. Additional workshops will be added, including Reiki training.

That's all for now... may you enjoy the upcoming holiday season.

Blessed Be,

Sherry
(AKA Silver Raven Moon)

<img border='0' style='border:1px solid #660066; It remained as though nothing had happened. All our tables and display boxes remained with the exception of one, that went down river. Judging by the water lines left on one of the card tables, it looks as though the water was at least 1 1/2 - 2 feet deep in the tent. WOW! That given that the water in the river had to rise at least 5 feet to get to the ground, then 2 feet higher. It really blows my mind. Actually, the mind blower was the Faire site. I figured we'd be taking the tent down in mud, but surprisingly the ground was dry. There wasn't even the squish factor. With three of us, we focused on the task and were done within 1 1/2 hours. We were one of the last tents on site. We were amazed at the damage left behind by the flood. The foot bridge near us, well, the river took at least 2 ft or more of the earth on each side. The earth in many areas was totally washed out leaving behind a trail of rocks and deep cuts in the soil.

Finally, our adventure comes to a close. Despite the trials, it was certainly worth the effort. Dave and I spent some time last night reflecting on the lessons. We look forward to a new adventure next year!

Blessed Be!

Then There Was A Flood...

Saturday, October 15th, 2005 (www.wiccanglade.com)

Today came the untimely ending of our first Faire adventure. Pictures will be posted soon... The tent that you see with the brown top, after the bridge is us....needless to say when we arrived at 8:30 AM yesterday, there was nothing we could do.

The water from the river behind us swelled so much that it flooded pretty much the ENTIRE faire site. Although our tent was underwater, at least a couple feet, if not more in the end, it remains standing.

We were informed by the Fire Department that there is a Reservoir, up the road a bit, well it was overflowing, which caused the river to rise. Ah the rath of Mother Nature's fury.

The good news is, no one was injured, and we are all safe. We faired well as we did not lose any product, unlike others who lost everything. So we are feeling very fortunate in the wake of such disaster. We continue to send positive energy and love to those who were less fortunate. Additionally, we plan to help in anyway we can.

Fear not, this has not dampened our spirit, as we plan to return to the Connecticut Renaissance Faire next year!

Nor is it the end of this blog, as I will continue to journal our journey with The Wiccan Glade.

Blessed Be,
Silver Raven Moon
(aka Sherry A. It was gray, but it wasn't raining. Grandfather Sun, please come out, please grace us with your precence, we miss you!

On the ride to the Faire, Dave and I were so hopeful...the streets were dry. We stopped for a bagel and decaf coffee -- this time we went to a D&D closer to us. The difference was amazing..they got the order right and it was done in about 3 minutes. We continued our journey...oh no, the closer we got to the Faire, it started to rain, again! Ugghhh!

When we arrived, we had to maneuver our vehicle near the mud stage. We could no longer back up in front of our tent due to the mud pit that existed in front of our tent and all the others due to the amount of rain we had gotten. It took a little longer to unload, but was not that bad. Dave went to park the truck, as I began the set-up process. When he returned, I had a good jump on things. When Allessandra arrived, we were pretty close to being done. Wow, we had lots of time to play before opening.

Today seemed to be more quiet than Saturday. It was very gray and dreary. It was hard to keep smiling, as the weather was wearing on everyone. The night before we had talked with Russ of Karmic Henna. I had said I wanted to get some henna, it was quiet, so it was the perfect time to do this. Dave and I were off, on the way, Dave bought me a rose :), how sweet!

When we arrived at Karmic Henna, I was surprised to find out the henna artist, Gina, was one the people I was dancing with the night before. I already had an idea of what I wanted, I was just not sure where. She showed me henna she did on herself and I loved it on the palm of her hand. That was it, a wiches pentacle with ivy on my right palm with rune symbols on my fingers. It probably took her about 15 mins to do, she works fast and Wow she is good!

After the henna, we were chatting with Russ about some magickal things. I had Dave go back to our tent to get some misters so I could spray their tent. While sitting there, Gina got 2 more customers, yey for Gina!

When we finally made it back, there seemed to be a number of people in the tent. As soon as we arrived it seemed to empty out. Throughout the day, this is how it played out, there were waves of patrons, then there were none, waves, none. There was much down time during the day. I spent much time with the henna hand over the candle, trying to get it to dry. Allessandra struggled with the cold, as did I. This morning, Dave and I brought a thermos filled with Tea, it helped but we finished it rather quickly.

As the day wore on, Allessandra mentioned how it was especially quiet without Cpt. Redbeard around. He was not here today as he had to work his "regular" job. She was right, we had all become quite fond of Redbeard. He often would sneak up on us and scare us! Sometimes he really got us good, other times, it was like we could feel his precence. There was none of that today. There were not as many patrons as Sunday, it seemed to be as quiet as Saturday.

We made the best of the day. One of the things we learned, or rather was pointed out by Allessandra, was that the three of us, Her, Dave and myself, obviously got along. After 3 days of being in a 12 by 12 space together, we were all still alive. We didn't seem to get on each others nerves (not that bad anyway :). This is a good thing to know. When closing time came, we were packed and out of there in record time...we were all cold and wanting to be either in a hot shower or eating some hot food.

We are praying for Sun for the last weekend! Visualize it with us, a bright fall day in CT. Not to warm, not to cold, just right - with LOTS of Sun. Until then, Blessed Be!

It's Still Raining...

Sunday, October 9th, 2005 (www.wiccanglade.com)

One day of rain was okay, it really needed to happen so we could see how we could improve. Many lessons learned, as in other days, but lessons that only the rain would bring about. But it's still raining. Dave and I plastered on our smile, hoping it would chase aways some of the disappointment of rain. What can you do? Nothing, but make the best of it!

At the Faire site, we continued our morning "ritual" of set-up, but as the day before, we were unable to put out as much product as we can on nice dry days. It continues to go smoother and smoother. We have such a groove, that Dave, Allessandra and myself really don't have a need to talk while doing it.

It seemed that we were done sooner than the day before. The rain was lighter, and it often stopped throughout the day. The major difference from the day before was the temperature, a balmy 50 degrees. Today I decided to dig out my combat boots, since my moccaissans were still wet from the day before. This proved to be a good move! Thank you Uncle Sam! (Okay so the boots came with a price, 6 years of my life, but that is another story).

When Faire opened there was noticeably more people! Yey! I want to send a special thank you out to all the diehard Ren Faire fans, you are awesome!

Today Allessandra and I struggled with keeping our extremities warm (fingers and toes). We needed something warm to drink so we set out for the "green room" (where staff can get a bite to eat). We were both wanting hot chocolate. We both put some mix in a cup and put water in it. Oh no, the water was ice cold! What's going on here? Apparently there was some kind of a breakdown in the green room...oh well, we tried.

Friends of mine, Carol and Ann, stopped in for a visit! We love visitors! They stayed for a spell and were off to see the rest of the Faire. After they left, things took a turn, it started to get really busy for us. I was having a great time! People were asking questions, advice, guideance, all the things I love to do. I was taking people out the side of the tent to what I called "my office" -- Step into my office please. During the faire I have learned many lessons, and applied them immediately to my life but additionally I was able to share the knowledge gained with others pretty much immediately. When I would finish helping one person, there would be someone else. I was bouncing off the walls -- I was so energized and excited! This was exactly what I needed.

Carol and Ann came back while Dave and I were on a walk-about with hot chocolate for all of us! Thank you Carol and Ann! You made our day --- we are so fortunate to have such wonderful friends.

Cpt. Redbeard, kept stopping in our tent. Each time it was quiet in the tent, Dave and I were pretty much pelting him with questions about the faire (he is one of the four owners). He graciously answered our questions, and really gave us some insight as to the "big picture" of how they want it to grow. It's exciting, and we are very happy that we are now a part of it. They really go out of their way to make you feel like you are part of the family -- we appreciate it very much!

The day went by very quickly --- who had time to think about the rain? Not me :).

After closing, we stolled over to Divine Swine - a food vendor that was sponsoring a "dinner". We had decided it was a great idea so Dave and I each got a meal. By the way, it was fabulous - Roast Pork, Chicken, Cheddar Mashed Potatoes, Coleslaw, Corn and Cornbread. It was awesome and it was hot. Obviously we couldn't finish it all --- Allessandra said the corn bread was excellent. After the hot meal, we strolled over to the building where there was a party in progress...our first staff party. What a blast! Too bad we were exhausted, we stayed a little bit and were off on our way home.

On the 6th Day there was Rain....

Saturday, October 8th, 2005 (www.wiccanglade.com)

All week I refused to listen to the weather, either on the radio, or through other people, who made it a point to tell me it was going to rain this weekend. I put my fingers in my ears chanting la, la, la, la, I don't hear you. I continued to visualize a beautiful fall day. Well, when we woke to prepare for Faire, it was raining.

Although, I refused to acknowledge the rain, I was prepared for it. Friday evening I thought I would play "Betty Crocker" for awhile, making mini-blueberry muffins and decadent chocolate chip cookies. No, they weren't from scratch, but from a box and from the fridge section at the grocery store, but I still had to be motivated enough to cook them. I thought it would be nice to share some cheer, in the event of rain.

When we arrived to the fairgrounds, the walkway 10 feet in front of our tent was already starting to get really squishy. I helped Dave unload the truck quickly to avoid any ruts forming from the truck. The tent was dry, okay inside, but around the sides and edges was damp and sometimes misty. I didn't know where to start, so I waited patiently for Dave to return.

We wiped everything on the inside (tables, etc.) with a towel we had brought (okay we were somewhat prepared) then started the task of setting up. We decided not to put everything out, due to the dampness. This turned out to be a good idea, as later in the morning/early afternoon we needed to actually put things away due to the dampness.

Allessandra arrived, smile and all! She has been wonderful throughout this whole event. She is easy going, hard working and dependable! That's one reason why we'll keep her :).

So where was I, oh yeah, the rain. It never really stopped. The area I spoke about earlier became mud puddles, and when you walked through it you shoes make a sucking sound as the mud encompassed them. Hmmm nice. Pat of Silvermane, was out in the rain playing barefoot in the mud puddles. He was singing and having a grand ol' time. He called to Allessandra and I to join him. I asked if the mud was cold, he replied, surprisingly no. That was enough for me, and Allessandra to take off our shoes to join him. Guess what? It was awesome! The mud was warm, as was the water, although it was raining it was quite warm. As it turned out, walking around barefoot, turned out to be the best way to traverse the fairgrounds that day.

Since there were not many patrons, we took the liberty of taking many walk-abouts. Allessandra and I made our way to the other side to check things out. I was pleasantly surprised to find an apothecary. Oh my, I love herbs....Ahh herbs she had, and much more. We ended up spending at least a 1/2 hr maybe longer in her tent, checking things out and talking with her. Marguerite was so knowledgeable and answered all my questions and concerns! She offers Herbal Apprenticeships (I want to do it!) in New York. Since we were not wandering with cash, we had to return to the tent so I could get money from Dave. Dave went back with me to purchase the goodies I had scoped out.

Throughout the Day, we found many patrons, cast, and fellow merchants stopping in to chat a bit. The tent was a nice and cozy haven. Later in the afternoon, we were greeted by a band of men...they entered the tent one by one, giving myself and Allessandra each a rose, and each one of them kissing our hand. We were Rogued! Let me tell you, it really made our day! How sweet and what a nice way to make us feel like part of the Faire family!

After the Roguing, I went tent to tent in our area passing out Chocolate Chip Cookies...everyone needed a pick-me up as this was the slowest day ever. Later we found out there was more of "us - staff, cast, etc." than patrons on site. But we made the best of it, and before long we were packing up to return home.

Special Request

I want to give a shout out to my "Brother" Cpt. (www.wiccanglade.com)

It was another chilly morning. Dave and I arrived at the fairgrounds (www.ctfaire.com) around 8:30, repeating our faire “ritual” of unloading and setting up. Each day seems to go smoother and smoother…today Alessandra was working with us. We are happy to have her with us as she is very helpful.

This morning everyone at the Faire seemed to be in high spirits. Larry from Lusty Leather (www.lustyleather.com), stopped in with a box of munchkins. He said, “Your part of the Family now, please have one”. Each of us took one, commenting on how we could not remember the last time we had one. How nice to be part of the "family".

After set-up was complete, Dave and I took a stroll to visit my favorite dress maker, Cloak and Dagger. Today I was wearing a dress I had purchased from her at this faire, about 4 years ago. She has been busy, her newest addition is just 3 months old. We mentioned we were looking for a cloak or cape, as the mornings have been chilly. She went to a rack and took out a black wool cape with a forest green satin lined hood. It looked nice, I tried it on...hmmm nice and warm. Sold!

As we continued our stroll, checking out the many items for sale. When something caught our eye, we would stop, and inevitably talk with the merchants. We are finding most are very friendly and warm. The Faire is truly its own community, one that we are adjusting to quite nicely.

When we returned, the tent was jam packed -- Allessandra was handling it all like a pro. The weather was beautiful, warm but not too warm, sunny and bright. It was absolutely perfect!

Today, we changed things up a bit. On the advise of our neighbor, Marrus, we added a table outside the tent. Covered in purple (of course), on it we added a sampling of our wares to catch the interest of those passing by...The Witches 2006 Calendar, the 2006 Witches Datebook, the Witches Almanac, teas, bath salts, runes, art journals and a few other items. It worked out nicely, as within a 1/2 hour we had sold all the datebooks and most of the almanacs.

As the day went on, we had many of the "charecters" stop in, or chat with us in front of the tent. We find that we are participating more, and really have a blast with it. Some memorable moments include: "The Cardinal" sitting outside our tent under our sign, yes I took a picture. Then there was "Rufus" one of the mud peasants, who are quite hysterical. He serenaded us with a duet -- his duet was playing 2 flutes with his nose. Unbelievably he could carry quite the tune. Yes, bizzare but I found it completely hysterical. Of course there was the Holly King strolling through the tent, Smee of Smee and Blog, the singing executor's.

Throughout the day, we burned incense, had the oil burner going with liquid amber and sprayed the new misters frequently. I am so torn as to what mister is my favorite, Dragon's Blood, Mugwort, Money Mister or Quantum Shift. They are all smell divine to us scentual people, like myself. Although, Quantum Shift not only smells invigorating it immediately changes the energy and mood. While spraying this mister, a customer fell in love and bought it on the spot. Yahoo! Our blender would be excited as she made an special effort to get these to us in time for the Faire.

Overall, it was a stellar day --- when 5 came, we were all ready to pack up to head home. I know I was tired, so I'm sure others were too.

(Note: Dave and I were in bed by 8:30 PM, we are at week 3 without a day off, so we are doing our best to get enough sleep.) (www.wiccanglade.com)

Sunday, October 2, 2005 (www.wiccanglade.com)

When the alarm went off, neither Dave or I wanted to get up. We must have hit the snooze at least 3 times before I jumped out of bed into the shower. Dave got Justin up, he was so excited as he was joining us today. When I finally made it out to the kitchen, he was already in costume, eating his cereal. He was mentally planning his day, as he was asking if he could get his face painted, do Smite the Knight, have a lollipop, and more. Whoa, all that in one breath...he is such a little planner.

We left a few minutes earlier today, Dave and I wanted to stop to pick up a bagel to munch on during set up. This turned out to be a production, as the staff at the D&D near the Faire (www.ctfaire.com) had a hard time understanding toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese on the side and a small regular decaf coffee, go figure. It took over 10 minutes to get this seemingly simple order right. Uggg!

Next, we started our morning ritual of set up. This was day 5, each day we seem to change things around a bit, which is good, as we are finding what works where. Jewelry seems to be big draw, so it is the first thing you see when you walk into the tent. I took pictures to post so those of you who are not able to visit, can get a feel of our first physical manifestation.

Today, Dave and I took our usual stroll in the morning before its really busy. This time however, I decided to spread the "love" by taking the money mister to spray at some of our fellow merchants booths. We probably sprayed about 7 or 8 other vendor's booths. Some send messagers letting us know that the spray was working. We also heard from some that they had a "great" day. What a beautiful thing.

We have found the Faire to be like an extended family. Larry and Lennie of Lusty Leather are very helpful and very welcoming. Our other neighbors, Magickal Jewelry, gave Justin a dragon's claw necklace. I thought this was very generous and sweet of them. We chatted with them for a bit before the crowds, very nice people. They like Justin, but then there are not many who meet him who do not like him. He is a great kid, such an old soul. He is a social butterfly.

So, Justin did get his face painted, I had my chest painted to accentuate the fairy pentacle that I was wearing. Marrus did this for us, she is awesome! She does it so quickly and it comes out so cool. Yes, we did get pictures, will post soon.

Yesterday, I pointed out some eye candy to Allessandra. We do have quite a view with the stabbing emporium just across the way. Muscular, fit men ahh, it could be worse, I am certainly not complaining. I also mentioned to Marrus and Redbeard that Allessandra is single, pass it on. Shhh...she can be very shy --- but being 22 she needs to have FUN! It also seems to me that Redbeard has taken a liking to her.

Today we had many visitors, our friends Rob & Shy (Rob is the artist who did the Earth Knot and he also painted the backdrop of our sign); Terri and Lana, and Allessandra's Mom, Dad and Grandmother. It was so nice to have visitors. Rob and Shy were in costume, they looked awesome.

As the day wore on, I found that I was very tired. As did Dave, 3 days of faire proved to be exhausting. Needless to say we were more than happy when 5 o'clock came. We were ready to pack up and head home. Today we learned many lessons, met new friends and did our best to stay cool in the hot sun. Until next weekend...Blessed Be! We had to leave extra early, as the opening today was 9 AM. We prepared our cooler filled with water, fruit, crackers, cheese and some yummy granola bars for our snacking throughout the day. While Dave did this, I whipped up one of my favorite morning smoothies. Recently, I have found Smoothies a perfect way to start the day. I love tossing it together. Today it had strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, a banana, orange pineapple juice, vanilla yogurt, oatmeal, and a splash of honey. Yummy! Well, Dave didn't think so, as he is not a fan of yogurt in any form, even with all the fruit. Before we knew it we were running out the door, we actually left before Justin got on the bus for school.

Upon arriving, we unloaded the truck, then began set-up. This seems to go smoother every day, as now we are getting a "groove" and not struggling to put the puzzle pieces together. By the way, did I mention it was chilly -- a whopping 45' at 7:30 --- note to self, must bring gloves.
Good thing I remembered Dave had a woodsman cloak, it kept me nice and warm.

Once the gates opened, children of all ages flooded in --- and they were moving. Where we are located it usually takes awhile for patrons to pass us, well, not today. Waves of teenagers, followed by strollers, little tykes, Moms & Dad's and many chaperones passed by us in just minutes of opening. They seemed to be on a mission. Throughout the day there are many shows going on in all parts of the faire. Today, I was able to see a bit of the Earth Stage, where 3 peasants play in the mud all while putting on a fabulous show, very interactive as mud was flying into the crowd.

Marrus, the artist next to us, painted my face today -- very cool! She is an interesting person, real, passionate, my kind of people. Check out her site at www.marrusart.com.

Many times throughout the morning we were slammed, and jam packed with people. Lot's of "lookers" today but there were others who were "searchers" or "seekers". We again met some wonderful people. The one person who sticks out the most in my mind, was this young man, Daniel. He had such a loving, caring energy about him, very empathic. He was one of the seekers, looking to learn more, so he can continue in his journey. Dave and I enjoyed his stay with us. Before leaving, he stopped back again to say good-bye, just too sweet.

Ah yes, it seems each day there is a particular comment that many seem to have about our tent, today it was ...hmmm, it smells great in here. We were burning Spell Stix incense and Mugwort Mister. Dave tends to get a bit carried away with our newest addition, misters from Daughters of Isis (they make our Witch oils and Spirit Medicines). Superior products, wonderful scents for "scentual" people, they immediately change the mood you are in! LOVE the product and the Blender, she and the Alchemist are wonderfully supportive, very special people.

Before long, it was time to pack up. We methodically packed our goods, preparing to load the truck. Our neighbor, Marrus was generous enough to share some creative ideas for us to draw more people to our tent. We are very grateful to have neighbors who are very caring and sharing with their experiences. That's all for today...Blessed Be! Most recently I have received messages from Spirit that the time is Now. So here we are!

I (Sherry Kachanis, aka Silver Raven Moon) wanted to journal our first journey out of the Web into the physical realm. This first major event is The Connecticut Renaissance Faire (www.ctfaire.com). We finally took the steps we needed to become a vendor at this wonderful venue. This did not happen overnight, as we wanted to be a part of this event for at least 2 years. Timing is everything and this year, we made it happen. So for your reading enjoyment, this begins our journey with the Faire....

Sunday, September 18, 2005

Dave and I were in Worcester, MA. One of my oldest and dearest friends, Colleen, was married on Saturday, September 17th. It was the largest wedding to date that I performed (I was the Minister). It went well, the ceremony and reception went beautifully! Of course there were some minor mishaps but at this point they are irrelevent.

We went to breakfast with our friends, Rob & Shy and Hannah & Steve. We had decided since we had so much to do, a big breakfast was in order. After, we left for home, this was around 10:45 ish. Upon arriving home, we unloaded the truck then re-loaded it with the tent, and tools. We were on the road again by 12:45 headed to Woodstock, CT (www.ctfaire.com).

When we arrived at the fair grounds, it was quite confusing. Somehow, we found our way into a small building where they were doing ID’s for staff members. We got our ID’s, and then we were off to find Brian Harvard, the merchant coordinator, to find our tent location. It was easy to spot Brian, as he was driving around on a 4 wheel vehicle here and there and everywhere. He showed us our spot – I could not believe my eyes. We were over the bridge, on the right, next to woods and the creek. The Fairies were with us! I was so excited.

Dave and I got to work right away, as we were exhausted from the day before and wanted to get the job done. Time was 1:45 and we finished around 4:30.

On the way home we were discussing dinner, as we had not been home since Friday afternoon, so nothing was planned. When we arrived Justin (our 7 year old) was there with my Dad. My Dad suggested take-out for dinner which he was willing to go get. That was music to our ears, as we were in no mood to go anywhere. (www.wiccanglade.com)

Friday, September 23, 2005

I spent most of the week preparing the product for display for the faire (www.ctfaire.com). It was a tedious task, but fortunately I had help from many people. My friend and neighbor, Robin, tagged the rings and necklaces, while Shyley (another great friend and lifesaver) helped tag product to be packed. Dave and I went gangbusters one night and pretty much finished up tagging and packing product. Allessandra came by on Thursday. We ran errands and did more display set-up and packing. We even labeled the bins with what was in them for easy finding later. All that was left was administrative items, which I planned to do on Friday. All of this, while the webstore is open and full swing as we enter our busy season. It could be overwhelming at times, but I continued to plug away. My original intention was to have everything done by Friday, so I could get a tiny bit of downtime to recoup. This did not go as planned.

Dave and I discussed going up to the faire grounds after he got home from work on Friday, so we could prepare the tent further with the display tables, boxes, and sides. We did just that, although, he ended up getting out of work late, thus pushing our time schedule into a crunch with the amount of light we had to work with.

Once we got there, we went right to work. Within minutes we had the truck unloaded and began with the tasks at hand. We completed them in no time. We did notice that our tent, which we meticulously leveled when we set up was moved, and was no longer even close to being level. We made note to bring some extra wood blocks to pick it up in the AM.

Off we went, stopping for dinner on our way home. Once home we loaded the truck for the morning, so it would be one less thing to do in the AM. (www.wiccanglade.com)

Saturday, September 24, 2005

Day 1 of the Faire (www.ctfaire.com) had arrived. We were up around 6:15 AM to get ready to leave. At 7:25ish Rob and Shyley (our supportive friends and set up crew) arrived at the house. A few minutes late, my father arrived. He was taking care of Justin in our absence, including taking him to soccer. We left a few minutes later than expected but still arrived in time to unload the truck and set up our store. We were ready in plenty of time of opening, which is 10 am.

We walked around meeting our neighbors. To our right is Marrus Art. Marrus escaped her home in New Orleans just before Hurricane Katrina hit. She has not been back since. Her partner went back with chainsaws, gasoline and water purifying tablets to help others. Immediately our hearts opened to her and the Victims of this disaster. This is a wake up call when you might be thinking you have issues or troubles, the realization, is you really don’t. I offered to do Reiki on her before the Faire was over and continue to keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

To our left is Magickal Jewelry. They have all the pewter pieces that we carry on our website. They pretty much keep to themselves. Next to them is the Wooden Wand. His name escapes me, but he is very focused on selling his Harry Potter- like wands. They seem to be nice enough but still they leave me with a feeling that they are mass produced.

Next to the wands is one of our personal favorites (even before we became vendors) Lusty Leather (www.lustyleather.com). Leather corsets, cinchers, and so much more! We connected with Lennie, one of the owners, and chatted about her craft. Her husband, Larry, later came by to offer some wise words of advice, which we were very receptive and grateful to hear.

Our final neighbor, is Silver Mane The largest vendor at the Faire. They sell swords, clothing, jewelry and so much more. They too, have been one of our personal favorites for quite some time. In fact, one of Dave’s suede doublets came from them.

As the patrons arrived, we stood outside our tent, smiling trying to attract them our way. This is when we realized how “green” we were. After some time of doing this, Larry came by to share some words of wisdom. He explained that you really needed to get people’s attention by talking with them, or singing, or making some noise. I made a note to bring “noise makers” the next day.

As the day went on, there were many compliments on our sign, which I am biased, looks awesome. What I like most about it is that it was a joint effort stemming from Dave’s vision. Rob Waterman’s (our fantasy artist friend) awesome background painting, I painted the purple, Dave stained The Wiccan Glade, then assembled the sign. It really gives you the feeling of wanting to walk right into the path in the woods in the sign.

Interestingly, the other big hit of the day were the Blessed Be doormats, I got for decoration of the tent. People loved them! So much so, I have ordered them so we can offer them at the Faire and on the Website.

We met many wonderful people throughout the day. As much as we were excited to be there, people were excited to have us there. This was very reassuring. (www.wiccanglade.com)

Sunday, September 25, 2005

Today, we left much later, knowing that we would have plenty of time to set up our store. We arrived around 8:35ish, unloaded the truck and began the task of setting up our space. Today our son Justin was with us. He rode with our friend and assistant, Allessandra, as the truck was filled to the brim.

Justin was so excited to be at the Faire. He was looking forward to it as even he must be in costume. This year he choose to be a Wizard. He even made his own wand with a little help from Mom.

While walking around with Justin, we found Captain Red Beard. He takes pictures for the faire, along with other duties. He has always taken pictures of Justin, while we were visiting the faire. In fact, one year Justin was on their advertisement for the faire! One year, he dubbed Justin, Squire Chicken Bone. He mentioned to Dave and I that had not named another child that since Justin. Anyway, getting back to what I was telling, you, Red Beard, aptly named Justin the Wizard, Wizard Chicken Bone. Justin wasn’t too happy with all of this, but played along with it.

As the morning went on, we begin to make “noise” to attract patrons to our tent. Justin played the maracas, I played the tambourine and my finger cymbals. The late morning crowd did not seem interested at all. This being said, it gave me some time to walk around to meet other vendors. After speaking with a few vendors, I went back to report to Dave that others were experiencing what we were.

I decided that it was time to change the energy around the tent, so I set out to do just that. Once it was afternoon, everything seemed to change. It was very interesting, as when Dave left to go off with Justin, the tent filled up. When they would return, it would quiet down. Allessandra happened to point this out, so she and I came up with reasons to send them away. What was really interesting was when we “switched”, left Dave and Justin at the tent as Allessandra and I explored the rest of the faire, they were slammed.

Sunday afternoon, business was steady. Again, we met some wonderful people, had great conversations, and made new friends. It was so exciting to meet people who were already web customers of ours. It was also so nice to hear their input about the site.

After shifting the energy, people came into the tent with sighs of relief. Many said they felt drawn in, other said they felt the circle before entering. Others were truly excited to experience our vision of what we would like our physical store to be like. People were excited to have us there, this in itself was very rewarding.

As our second day came to a close, we realized how much we were learning through the many lessons we received during the day. The key is to apply this immediately to our life and our Faire endeavor.
